NOVI BLDS has been at the forefront of Geothermal design and construction in the GTA multi-residential sector for the past decade. Beginning with Geothermal retrofitting of existing multi-residential assets, and as one of the first Construction Managers to incorporate Geothermal bore-fields and systems into a new high rise build, NOVI BLDS President Jennifer Burstein has overseen Geothermal design and construction on 11 new and existing towers, resulting in a wealth of knowledge in the design, engineering and constructability of this key part of operational environmental sustainability. Heritage Retention & Re-construction
Through our work on the Cielo Condo project, our team oversaw heritage retention of one of Toronto's most recognizable historical properties, the Bloor Street United Church. Working with ERA architects, the construction team managed the structural retention of existing heritage facades, designed to remain in place during the construction of a 34-storey tower, built carefully atop the existing structure. Other components of the heritage facade were carefully numbered, removed, cleaned and re-stored within the new construction. Toronto Green Standard
Many of our previous projects have pursued Toronto Green Building Standards at advanced tiers, as evidence of our commitment toward environmental stewardship. Incorporating environmental solutions such as Geothermal heating systems, rigorous air tightness methodologies, low glazing-ratio facades, advanced storm water retention systems, and other forward-thinking methodologies, the Construction team was awarded the Green Building Culture award in 2021, by the Toronto Construction Association.
